LIAR. Kerry's point was that free fire zones (as well as Agent Orange, napalm, CIA assassination programs etc.) made the entire war a big atrocitiy in combat areas. His unit was like most others. Their rules of engagement were to shoot at almost anything that moved and that in itself creates atrocities. Not blaming the soldiers, just the war itself and the policy-makers. Robert McNamara has confessed to these "war crimes" at the top in his confessional film "The Fog Of War. See it.
