In the Army, an intra-theater transfer form must be submitted and approved by your current chain of command.

Yes, the Kerry request for duty in Vietnam is pretty unambiguous. Not only does he request duty in Vietnam, but specifically request duty in "Swift" boats.

There is some O'Neill story about how he was shocked and scared that he was going to go into combat. Don't know what that's about, given this document. Can anyone shed light on this one?
