you really have to PAY to have someone put gas in your car?

are you allowed to wash your car or do you have to take it to a unionized carwash?

In addition, to the cost of the gas, we have to pay an extra dollar per gallon to the state's environmental agency to offset the damage caused by the pollution from the gas. Currently, I pay $3.05 for a gallon of the mid grade unleaded. That's down from $3.36 earlier this summer.

The high price of gas in WA state never makes the news because we pay the environmental dollars separately at the gas stations. So the gas station signs say $2.05 and not $3.05.

Its a good law........it helps to keep the air cleaner.

You're thinking Oregon, not Ted's home state of Washington.

Oh, and another thing you'll find interesting. Ted's state doesn't even collect state income taxes. All they have are property taxes and a sales tax (and until several years ago, a high car registration fee). Hence the reason Bill Gates Sr. wanted to change the tax code in WA state to make it more "progressive."
