So now the story has morphed from "there was no enemy fire," to "there was enemy fire, but it was over by the time Kerry pulled Rassmann out of the water."

The fact that the story has changed is not helpful to credibility here.

"His boat was running away!!"

It's not clear from Lambert's account whether this is true or not. Even if it were, is temporarily fleeing at the onset of an attack disqualifying for a medal? If Kerry's boat was in the lead, wouldn't he expect that the other boats would flee with him, until he saw that one of them was damaged?

"How many holes were in Kerry's boat is a better question!"

I don't know, and I don't think you do either.
