At least the French were even-handed. If they had singled out, for example, just Jewish children for yarmulkes and Stars of David, you might feel more sympathy, and if they singled out just crucifixes, many others on the thread would feel sympathy.

In contrast, the Canadians, as weird as they are, eventually let Sikhs wear turbans and kirpans.

My husband, who works for the federal government, wears a crucifix to work, and I have a very nice jeweled crucifix shaped pin that I wear from time to time. I can't imagine kowtowing to a government official who told me to take it off.

<<"This certainly shows the downside of appeasement. The jihadis have no better friends than the French, but they're going to get them anyway for daring to defend French secular culture in France. ">> The downside of appeasement will be more apparent as time goes on. I suspect (but hope I'm wrong) the French will bow next. They are not the 1st. Spain was 1st and the Philippines next. Sad as Spain used to have a proud history and now caved in to an unseen boogeyman, a band of cowards with hidden faces. They can expect to cave in on many more issues and to keep bowing to cowards.. They live in greater fear than had they stood their ground,,
