I have to say this much. The Combat "V" as listed with the Silver Star on his DD214 may simply be a typo. The typist no doubt had a listing of a "Combat V" for a Bronze Star or possibly a Navy Commendation Medal.

Unless he added that for effect on his DD214, there is no story there.

I was thinking the same thing. He should be arrested if it is found out that he altered, forged, made up his silver star story.
