Don't persist with this and make yourself look even more ignorant. During World War I, most young men were eager to serve their country and flocked to enlist. The term "slacker" was employed to describe those who did not serve, or even those who waited for the draft to catch up to them. It was badge of shame to wait until one was called up.

This was an era totally alien to you, when patriotism and self-sacrifice were honored values and meant something to our citizenry.

Puh-leeze tell me you are not an American citizen! It would restore my faith in this country.
