Economy: Greenspan raised rates dramatically to end the speculative boom of the late 1990's. The resulting recession and stock market crash were exacerbated by the 911 attack, which had a giant negative effect on air travel and related industries.

All of the above would have happened regardless of who was President. Re. the budget deficit and tax cuts, without them the job losses would have been far worse.

Iraq: We won't get anywhere arguing on this. I think another war with Saddam was inevitable and that we had a surfeit of reasons to depose Saddam. Better to do it on our terms than at a time of his choosing.

Health care:

How much will Kerry catastrophic care plan cost and how will it be paid for / what will it do to the budget deficit?

I see his plan calls for ending "waste, fraud, and abuse in the health care system by simplifying medical administrative and reporting systems. These innovations can reduce the $1.6 trillion annual cost of medical care by approximately 25 percent." Sounds great. Also obviously a pipe dream.

BTW do you really think an administration with a medical malpractice lawyer is going to fix the malpractice problem? I don't.
