I see your point of view. Thank you for the distinction.

But believe you me, when I was in SE Asia in the late sixties and early seventies,

the anti-communist propaganda of the day said something like,

"Communism is like a giant octopus with long tentacles that prey on its victims. So it is imperative to defeat Communism and embrace Democracy because Democracy is government of the people, for the people and by the people. Communist Vietnam has to be defeated at whatever costs it takes! "

not about oil we get
17% from Canada
13% from Mexico
12% from Venezula
11% from Saudi Arabia
The reason we haven't gone off oil already is of the problems to those countries if they lose that income.
Talk about problems of unemployment around the world.
Most who say that about that it was about oil have no knowledge of the oil industry. I used to work for Tenneco. I won't bother you with the accounting details.
Remember that Rumsfeld even turned down the oil revenues to pay for the war.

It really is about the stabilization of the region and the protection of Israel. Also it was designed to keep Israel from making the same move. There is alot going on behind the scenes. Very serious situation where hundreds of thousands could have been killed. The exposing of the Pakistani underground nuclear trade was a part of it.
Saddam was the weakest link of the chain, so he was the first to go.

the obvious accounting issue is we are spending over $80 billion which could have bought a hell of lot of oil from Russia. Rumsfeld turned down Iraq oil to offset that
cost, and Iraq is still not a blip in the US oil imports.

This is proof that the Michael Moores of the world can't add numbers together or read a balance sheet.
