Twelve years ago, I left my home in the mountains of North Georgia on a trip to New York. That trip culminated with a keynote address to the National Convention of a political party. But despite my Georgia roots, and despite my conservative beliefs, it was not the Republican National Convention, it was the Democrats. In just two days, I will speak again in New York, but this time the party is the Republicans, and this time the candidate is George W. Bush. In other words, we're a nation of nitwits, and a presidential campaign at a critical moment in world history will be spoon-fed to us like an ad for Wheaties. We don't have the luxury of being "nitwits". There are some very bad people in the WH. If Americans don't get it, they may end up paying a dear price for their naiveté. Along those same lines........Bush was in W VA yesterday extolling the virtues of his economy. One of the statistics he uses is the unemployment rate, claiming its down to 5.5%. Of course, he never points out that it didn't get much higher than 5.8%. I have never seen a candidate so blatant in his manipulation of his audience. ted
