And so once again Kerry has proven to me that he has not changed much over the years. In fact I believe that he is still the same reprehensible, self-serving, politically motivated, anti-war, anti-U.S. troop, exploitive opportunist that he was back in 1971. In a recent column for Newsmax.com (Kerry's Flashback) I pointed to Kerry's testimony to the Senate back in April of that year, where he called our soldiers war criminals of the worst kind. I then fast forwarded 33 years to New York's City College to a town hall style event held by the Kerry for President machine. At that event Kerry stood by as an audience member called our troops in Iraq war criminals. He told Kerry that our brave young men and women were sniping at and killing civilians, and bombing hospitals and mosques, while fighting an illegal, imperialistic war in Iraq. Once the guy finished his diatribe, and Kerry finished nodding at the anti-American town hall participant, he gave his response. The only problem is that Kerry neglected to challenge any one of the many slanderous claims leveled against our brave troops in his answer. I called the column, Kerry's Flashback, because I believe that as he stood and listened to this man spew his garbage, Kerry saw himself seated in front of the Senate back in '71 saying much the same thing about those who were bravely serving back then. Here's another thing that Kerry told the Senate in '71 while explaining how he made sure his anti-Vietnam war protests in D.C. would get maximum press coverage. "I called the media...I said, 'If I take some crippled veterans down to the White House and we chain ourselves to the gates, will we get coverage?' 'Oh, yes, we will cover that.' " (From James Taranto's Best of The Web) Which brings us to last weeks visit to Crawford, Texas, by Max Cleland. The former Senator lost three limbs in an accident while serving in Vietnam. Since losing his Senate seat two years ago, he has become a full-time basher of President Bush. How interesting that John Kerry selected Cleland to fly down to the President's ranch to have him attempt to deliver a letter. Do you think that Cleland was the only person available at the time? I dare say the answer is no. I dare say that Max Cleland was selected for duty by our would-be Commander-In-Chief, because he was serving the same role for the media exposure hungry candidate that those "crippled veterans" served back in 1971. The man knows no shame. And neither does Max Cleland apparently. In a stunning column, Rich Lowry of National Review reveals that Cleland is a member of the board of directors of the Export-Import Bank. For his very limited efforts, Cleland receives a hefty $136,000 per year in salary. So just how does one get such a cushy position? You have to be appointed by the president of the United States. That's right, Max Cleland - Bush-basher - was appointed by President Bush, and confirmed by the Senate. Allow me to repeat a question asked by Mr. Lowry: If Cleland had any decency, wouldn't he resign? I have one more question. If John Kerry had any decency, wouldn't he have figured out a way to get his latest stunt the desired media coverage without using another Vietnam Veteran "cripple?" Reprinted from Newsmax
