Listen to Jay Leno's monologue for 1 wk then do the same for Letterman's. The difference is striking--Leno panders to lame-brained Hollywood crowd & shallow metrosexuals(quite useful & accurate word) while Letterman's humor resonates with traditional Americans. Leno's success can be attributed to his love affair with Lala Land's over-indulged & often dyslexic celebrities, while Letterman is truly the USA's national comedian on a scale with Bob Hope. Letterman appeals to common sense Americans.
