Not really. The Koran directs that women should dress "modestly". It doesn't detail what "modestly" means. In France, if they are wearing any clothing at all, that should count...


There is an important doctrine in the Muslim faith....separate from the Koran......I can't remember what its called but it dictates Muslim behavior and proper protocol. I think its in there that women are required to be covered.

And yes, you're right......the prophet would never have been so restrictive. I have often wondered why Muslims are so conservative.
