Sadr has squeaky clean credentials where it counts -- he never for a second got cozy with the US or those installed by the US. In Iraq, that is the most valuable credential -- to be a die-hard opponent of the US occupation.

Lets be clear on something: I don't have any desire to see Sadr running the show in Iraq. What I find so appalling is that it is our actions that make him powerful -- our actions. Without our help, this guy is nothing. But with our help, he can build a remarkable power base -- and that is exactly what he is doing. So why are we helping him? With every military "victory" over Sadr, he emerges stronger and with a greater following. As a political leader, he had little hope of getting far until we went after him and gave him the chance to shed the blood of his followers -- from that point on his reputation began to build beyond his original power base. We handed him one victory after another -- and each time we declared ourselves to be the victors, teaching Sadr a lesson. Watching his emergence in this manner is sickening. Blaming me for his rise to power is absurd.

Um, your 'White Protestant Christians' are actually invaders of these Americas .... not sure how this affects your analogy however ..... is it all right to have deep abiding concerns regarding both the Bushes and the Sadrs of this world, do you think? .... if Monica had instead blown a whistle, would Clinton now be squeaky clean as one?
