David, time for a little "nuance."

Bush didn't say, "I don't think you can win it." He said, "I don't think you can 'win' it," with an inflectionary emphasis on the word "win" to stress that a traditional victory is not what we should expect.

Of course, the Dems and the media aren't going to give Bush the benefit of "nuance."

Asked "Can we win?" Bush said, "I don't think you can win it. But I think you can create conditions so that the -- those who use terror as a tool are less acceptable in parts of the world."

LOL. Yeah right! He's created just the right conditions for terrorism to grow globally.

He is clearly saying there will be no surrender, no guarantee that terrorism will NEVER be used again. But we are certainly reducing the likelihood of further attacks against us and other nations.

The Dems love it when the words aren't so carefully chosen that they can mislead people. I don't think you are usually so easily misled. J Fowler, OTOH, *IS* -- he'll take a remark like this and turn it into something it isn't.

As if you know about what you're talking.......you're reaching again!

That's not the way he and his party have played this thing for the last three years... this is different.
