You want to have a Bush flip-flop day? :o}

Bush on Free Trade
I’ll work to end tariffs and break down barriers everywhere, entirely, so the whole world trades in freedom. The fearful build walls. The confident demolish them. I am confident in American workers and farmers and producers. And I am confident that America’s best is the best in the world. -- Candidacy Announcement Speech 6/12/99

Two tariffs on soft lumber from Canada, steel tariffs, increased farm subisidies, one monstrous subsidy to various industries [to include manufacturers of steel, fish and tackle boxes, and crossbows...etc.] through the tax code. How many time has the US been found in violation of unfair trading practices since Bush came in? I lost track. I think it would be a challenge to find an industry that Bush hasn't provided a subsidy to.

Bush on the Federal Budget.
Not only are my tax cuts real, they've reduced the baseline of the budget. And that's why it's important to cut taxes. It's important to cut taxes to give -- make sure the economy continues to grow. But John, it's also important to cut taxes to make sure that the federal budgets don't become bloated and don't grow. -- Iowa GOP Debate 1/15/2000

Do I have to say anything?

Bush on Social Security.
We need to take all the payroll taxes aiming for Social Security and dedicate it to only Social Security. We need personal savings accounts for younger workers. We’re going to keep our solemn commitment to people who’ve retired regarding benefits. I definitely wouldn’t [raise the benefit age] on people near retirement. I hope we’re able to keep the benefits the same for younger workers, as well. But the key thing is to have a leader to bring people together to solve the Social Security system. -- New Hampshire GOP debate 12/3/99

Check.

This one wins. Hands down.

Today
"Can we win?" the war on terror, Bush said, "I don't think you can win it.

September 12, 2001:
This battle will take time and resolve. But make no mistake about it: we will win.

Bush in 2002:
We will win, because of what we love. We will win because we're determined and strong. We will win because we're a nation which holds values dear to our heart. And we refuse to be intimidated by anybody, at any place, at any time. We will win because we want to uphold our duty and obligation to leave America intact and free, so future generations of people, Hispanic or otherwise, can realize dreams, can succeed, can realize their God-given talents. That's what this is all about.

Bush in 2003:
We will prevail. We will win because our cause is just. We will win because we will stay on the offensive. And we will win because you're part of the finest military ever assembled. And we will prevail because the Iraqis want their freedom.

Bush in April 2004:
We will win this test of wills, and overcome every challenge, because the cause of freedom and security is worth our struggle.
