Re: "U.S. forces and policies are completing the radicalization of the Islamic world, something Osama bin Laden has been trying to do with substantial but incomplete success since the early 1990s. As a result, I think it is fair to conclude that the United States of America remains bin Laden's only indispensable ally."

I wouldn't put it that way... After all, Bin Laden is a mere "comic strip" creature, the brainchild of US intelligence. As I said repeatedly, US foreign policy is mainly focused on containing Islam and managing the "squall line" between Islam and Judeo-Christianity. So, what would be the best strategy for the US to check the Islamic sprawl across Eurasia and beyond? Christian proselytism? Old-fashioned colonialism? Nope. The best way for Judeofascists to thwart the Islamic thrust is to demonize Islam. If Judeofascists can turn Islam into a fanatical cult then it's gonna be all the more difficult for it to recruit new converts and sympathizers --especially in the West, especially in Europe...

The worst nightmare for Judeofascists is a blurring of the squall line that demarcates Muslim countries from their (Judeo-)Christian neighbors because they know that any peaceful coexistence between Islam and JudeoChristianity will benefit the former, not the latter. Demographics alone will spell a gradual islamization of, or islamophily in, Europe... Hence the current US strategy to frame Islam as a geopolitical bogeyman.
