Bubba What I stated are the memories of information I read many years ago. I shall attempt to find newer information for you. In a sense what happened is, after WW1 the US gave Germany, who had no economy, loans to stimulate business and employment and the Germans agreed, in turn, to pay France and Britain reparations, which, in its convoluted way, would allow France and Britain to repay the US for our wartime materials and other assistance. It did not work as well as expected as, among other things, Hitler came to power and disavowed any WW1 debts, so the US, eventually, forgave the debts of France and Germany, or most of it. One other thing I strongly remember is Finland was the only country to make its payments for materials and assistance and actually paid the entire debt owed to the US. Remember, Russia attacked Finland, but tiny Finland held them off, with our help, and others, to a stalemate and a redraw of the Russ-Finnish border. KM
