LG, last night's mob violence has NYPD ever more vigilant. The demonstrators are trying to divert media attention from the GOP convention. TV craves shocking clips, so their strategy will probably work. Street violence will pick up tonight since there isn't a daytime session at the Garden.

Bush's speech Thursday will be full of lies, if today's is any indication, he totally contradicts hiself and tries to paint himself as the opposite of how he has governed. Real bait and switch used car salesmen techniques.

On Sunday I took a walk down to midtown to see the demonstrators' march first hand.

The most noteworthy thing that I took away from watching them was that - far from being the enraged, disgruntled group that they'd seemingly like to be thought of as...or, for that matter, that the media often portrays them as - it was more like a big street party: lots of laughter, horseplay, and pageantry.

The closest thing I saw to someone espousing anarchy was a marcher wearing a Sex Pistols t-shirt. Considering it now, I'd say it was more like the annual Halloween Parade in Greenwich Village than something reminiscent of the mid to late 1960s.
