I agree with you almost on everything. Naipaul's books on his visits to the Islamic States are well researched books and I will not call them flawed. I will say he is biased at the least. At its worst, the Hindu bias caused the Gujarat massacre of Muslims in 2002. bostonreview.net Pakistan was created by carving out a "Muslim" state from India. The father of Pakistan, Jinnah, was preparing a secular constitution at the time of his death. The prime minister of Pakistan was assasinated a week before he was to present a secular constitution to the Pakistani assembly. Many suspect that is why he was killed. The thaw in India Pakistan relations is a step in the right direction. At least, they will not be spending a ton of money on defense and neglecting the social programs. In my opinion, the Muslims(men and women)are the biggest victims of the orthodox view of the Islamist.
