There are MD's who are dedicated and genuinely care about their patients. They did not go into the profession primarily for the money. I know a number of MD's like this in NYC. Life is not all dollars and cents if you have a nice little nest egg to begin with.

Ok OK, I hear you in the background screaming that not every MD has a nice little nest egg to begin with. Yes, some Doctors come from poor families. I understand that. But I see nothing wrong with an Internist or Pediatrician making 70K-75K a year. If they don't like it, let them get a different job.

Sure, you are right in a way, that since the HMO's became dominant, some Doctors spend less time with their patients than they use to because they claim they are not getting paid enough. However, if money was their prime motivation in becoming an MD, then they should get out of the profession. Fortunately, my family and I only see dedicated Doctors whose primary goal is to maintain health and cure illness.
