Well, if you can believe this...after my father survived the storm in Punta Gorda, we got him the hell out of there and moved him back to the east coast of florida....in between daytona and st aug...palm coast area......and it looks like that is a highly likely area for it to hit land, althought the path could change at any time.....anyway....not playing games this time and neither is my father...if it looks like it is going to hit them, they WILL get the heck out of there....I guess the storm in Punta Gorda made him realize just how serious these storms can be....folks that have never been thru a cat 4 or 5 hurricane just dont comprehend just how bad it really is......I went thru a cat 5 many years ago...and when it was coming, I was actually excited and looking forward to it....stocked up on beer and got ready to party...storm first hit and we were having a blast...then it hit full force and we were all wondering if we would be alive in a few hours.....absolutely amazing how FURIOUS nature can be....watching cars fly thru the air like they were leaves.....the destruction is simply mindboggling to see firsthand.......alot of folks ride out smaller storms, so when a big one comes, they arent too worried because they think they have been thru this many times before.....there is a huge differance between a cat 1/2/3 and a cat 4 and 5...those that went thru many cat 1/2 and 3's always stick around for the cat 4's and 5's...but only once <g>...once they see the differenace in the destruction a 4 and 5 causes versus a 1, 2 or 3,....if they live, they do not ever want to go thru that again.....

Don,

Hard to tell where the 'direct hit' will be, but from the looks of things here, it looks like the whole state is going to get hit hard...hopefully it dies down alot as it makes it way up thru land.....
