I agree people need a reason to vote either way. Right now the "I disapprove of Bush but I really don't like Kerry" attitude seems to be hamstringing a lot of people.

I think this is more a matter of temperament than you suggest. You're arguing the "devil you know" approach, which resonates with many people. Others might just as naturally react by opting for change, any change. Perhaps it's a matter or native optimism or pessimism or one's comfort level with change. I dunno. What I'm offering is that the "devil-you-know" is not a universal response.
