Thank you for the well thought-out reply. The healthcare issue is difficult -- when one steps back a bit, they observe an apparent fixed volume of illness and corresponding health care being provided.

But, just what is acceptable healthcare? Your feedback fostered the following consideration -- I wonder if this apparently "balanced equation" is an illusion? Is the equation in "apparent balance" due to a hypothetical quality-reduction factor determined by supply and demand at the medical school level?

The issue may be one of supply and demand for high quality medical students.
