Much of the legal expenses of companies are with regard to fighting lawsuits with their competitors.

Trial lawyers are essential to protect the consumers. Without them, consumers are going to get steamrolled by giant corporations.

Actually, interest rates have a lot more to do with malpractice insurance rates than trial lawyers do. When interest rates go down, insurance companies hike the rates to make up the difference.
