"I seem to have missed this one." Most did... they made every efforts to divert attention and keep the public off the trail of this disasterous politico/military miscalculation. Lots of 'non-denial denials' were issued, lots of Press were diverted from the story because of the difficulties of getting anyone to go on the record --- and the prohibition on active military to disclose classified matters. After US pilots were reported describing the flights (and their orders to allow the flights safe passage out of Afghanistan), the stories dried up. Just enter "Airlift of Evil" into your search engine for what is known. A disgraceful, disasterous interlude in the 'war on terrorism', IMO.
