That was common back then. Kerry sought a deferment too, but was declined, and only after that he chose to control his destiny and enlisted instead of being drafted. He was going either way.

Yup, Rove, who was yet another neocon who avoided the war, was offended by Kerry's antiwar remarks. Offended while he sat on his behind back in the states with Rush (pimple butt deferment) and Cheney (better things to do deferment).
