Apparently, it was easy for Bush, since his deferment (oops, sorry, Guard duty) was after Kerry signed up. Right connections, jump to the top of the list.

My point is, that Kerry could have gotten out if he really tried, as so many others both before AND after him did. Especially the well heeled and connected. He chose not to, served, volunteered for Vietnam Swift boat duty, fought, was decorated, and returned to protest in an effort to bring his comrades home.

Bush flew planes, self admittedly drank and partied, and avoided the whole Vietnam thing altogether. Rove, Cheney, and Rush all avoided Vietnam with a variety of excuses and deferments.

Those are the facts.
