I take Bush by his words who calls Kerry's Vietnam service "more heroic" than his own National Guard time.

The anti-war movement that Kerry was part of represented about 20% of the country. Kerry's activities in it are enough by themselves to disqualify him for the Presidency.

He now admits being in a meeting in 1971 where the assassination of Senators was discussed and voted down. He never reported it, and denied it until he was caught. That alone is enough to disqualify him. The Dems were foolish to nominate him. They thought people had forgot.

Kerry went, and Bush didn't. Bush is right to agree with what he did. His problem is that is record over there is turning out to be other than the heroics he has published books about. Bad move on his part.

Jochen,

Yes, Kerry wound up in combat. But it seems that his actual record was somewhat less heroic than the glowing reports he send back to headquarters. Then he collected three Purple Hearts for scratches and left combat in a hurry.

Then Kerry joined VVAW and told the Senate, in his best Kennedy accent (quite different from his current accent, btw) that Vietnam was a war that produced no heroes, only millions of war criminals, on a daily basis and known to everybody.

Now thirty years later, he has discovered that Vietnam did produce exactly ONE hero - himself!

I don't think that anybody should be surprised that there is a large contingent of veterans who hate Kerry's guts. Especially Vietnam veterans. These men were spat on for baby-killers when they returned home.
