I think everyone taking the inland routes should know that these are areas that were devastated by Charlie. People in the inland counties will probably be first at the designated shelters when they open this afternoon. Most of the inland counties are letting schools out today at noon as those are the shelters. Glades and Hendry counties still have intermittent power outages in some areas.

My company, Robb & Stucky, has sent 3 60ft trailers of food, furniture, clothing and supplies this week, fully two weeks after the storm into these counties as many are still in need of water and food. There were people in these poor rural areas that went without food or water for several days after the storm took out their towns and were as close to starving as we get in this country. I'm thinking you might be better off to come across Alligator Alley but be warned, the hotels are still full with power crews and the national guard is still in Charlotte county although the county is no longer under Marshall Law.
