John Kerry, in his own words
Of Medals and Men: Understanding the Veterans' Ire

"We will not quickly join those who march on Veteran's Day waving small flags, calling to memory those thousands who died for the 'greater glory of the United States.' We will not accept the rhetoric. We will not readily join the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars--in fact, we will find it hard to join anything at all and when we do, we will demand relevancy such as other organizations have recently been unable to provide.

"We will not take solace from the creation of monuments or the naming of parks after a select few of the thousands of dead Americans and Vietnamese. We will not uphold the traditions which decorously memorialize that which was base and grim…We are asking America to turn from false glory, hollow victory, fabricated foreign threats, fear which threatens us as a nation, shallow pride which feeds of fear."

-John F. Kerry, The New Soldier, 1971

David

Don't have a lot of time to read all of his posts. Just wondering if Ted and the rest of the Bush haters on this thread, were taking all of Zell's comments personally last night. They should, they were directed right at Kennedy's , and Moore's forehead, especially the zinger about the dems, caring more about the election, than national security. You can bet, they will call him a traitor, and be dismissive, rather than look in the mirror, and do any analysis, as to why a fellow dem. would think that way. It was interesting last night on hardball, when a pollster, checking reactions, in a target group, found even 70% of dems. in the group agreeing with many of Zells comments. Zell's comments won't be easily dismissed, and will take the guts out of the old liberal,Ted Kennedy, McAuliff, Roger Moore element, in the party.

As Carter and Reagan proved, too much "compassion" can be a very dangerous thing. In fact, Carter proved it again when he brokered the deal that effectively made North Korea untouchable. It is amazing how badly Jimmy Carter has screwed up EVERYTHING HE TOUCHED.

Hmmmmmmmm........you continually point out a Carter failure and ignore his successes.

Carter has helped build thousands of homes for the poor in this country. He brokered an election arrangement that has strenghtened democracy in Venezuela. His list of accomplishments is substantive. If Bush were half the man that Carter is, I might be voting for him in 2004.
