He was not only in Cambodia around that time, but he was there more than once and he had balls of steel to be be there in the first place. Meanwhile GW was back going AWOl, getting drunk and grounded. There is a major difference between these men. One talks tough but runs and hides when troublke looms. The other is a real deal hero who is very honest and courageous and has been all his life. Otherwise they're both Yalies. But character counts and the straight-talking war hero versus the tough-talking draft-dodger is a real contrast.
