I don't think there should be a draft for combat.
I don't think combat service should be a requirement for president.

Combat service is what Kerry is running on, and he was lying about that, and he betrayed his fellow soldiers.
So he is unfit.

Bush has released all his records, Kerry hasn't, the media did their anal probe on that issue (bush supposed awol) and haven't returned to it. Kerry could win a landslide election if he is telling the truth about his 4 months in Vietnam, IT'S THAT SIMPLE!

>>...and a coward with 5 draft deferments for vice-president. Is that what you mean fit for command<<

If seeking deferments makes you unfit for command, perhaps you need to be aware of this( borrowed from a long article):
***
Let's see. Kerry sought deferments just like Cheney (they were denied). Kerry entered the reserves, just like Bush. And neither Bush nor Kerry could know how LBJ and the military would choose to use them for national service. Kerry had no reason to expect dangerous combat duty. Flying the plane Bush flew was itself hazardous duty -- men died doing it. And in other wars, air reservists were sent to fight. (Read my "John Kerry" postings for links and details.)
