"My preferred solution would be to take freedoms away from terrorists / suspected terrorists"

Exactly. It's hard to organize anything of any size without leaving a bunch of ripples. The 9/11 investigation shows that very clearly. We should be tracking ripples, not erecting barricades...

If you have to hide and give up freedoms to be secure, who is to say the terrorists haven't won?

My preferred solution would be to take freedoms away from terrorists / suspected terrorists, but the prevalent thinking in this country is that it is "fairer" if everyone suffers unfairly somewhat than for a few to suffer (potentially) unfairly more. Nevemind that the sum of suffering is greater.

Nonsense. If we could take away the terrorists' freedoms, we would. Bush, at least so far, has been incapable of stopping them. That's why we are required to have more and more security measures in place, and not because we think its "fairer".

Have you been hanging out at RNC headquarters again?! ;~)
