Bush Leads Kerry 46% to 44% in Convention Week Poll by Zogby
Sept. 3 (Bloomberg) -- President George W. Bush opened up a 2 percentage point lead, within the margin of error, over Democratic presidential nominee John Kerry at the end of the Republican National Convention, a Zogby International poll said.

The telephone poll of 1,001 voters who indicated they were likely to vote this fall gave Bush 46 percent to Kerry's 44 percent. The Aug. 30-Sept. 2 survey had a margin of error of 3.2 percentage points. Kerry led Bush, 48 percent to 43 percent, at the end of July.

``The president has had a very good convention following a good week, where he also dominated the news with his own message _ leadership, strength, decisiveness,'' John Zogby, president of Utica, New York-based Zogby International, said.

An American Research Group poll of likely voters taken from Aug. 30 to Sept. 1 found Bush and Kerry with 47 percent apiece. The poll of 800 people who said they were likely to go to the polls on Nov. 2 had a margin of error of 3.5 percentage points.

Forty-eight percent of those polled by Zogby said they wanted someone new as president, while 46 percent said they would vote to re-elect

If that post is representative of the intelligence and level of discourse of Kerry's supporters, he's in deep trouble. And should be.

Sioux, hold off. Just sit back and relax. Bush is fortunate to be slightly ahead of Kerry. From here on out, it will be downhill for Bush.
