Depends on what you consider reasonable.....I would say we need to commit to 3-4 more years......

For some historical perspective, the Brits stayed in India for about 150 years before democracy "stuck". They only stayed in Iraq for 40 years and it obviously wasn't long enough. If the USA wants to stay only another 3-4 years, they will have to find and install their own "Butcher of Bagdad" like they did in Chile when they replaced Allende with Pinoche, where in that case the commodity of interest was copper instead of oil.
