I have some friends who told me they hunted deer while they sat or stood on temporary "platforms" they had made on tree trunks or higher up in the trees. Such hunters placed themselves above the direct view of the deer. Is it not conceivable that a hunter without the advantange of tree "perches" might try crawling on his belly to stalk and hunt deer? By the way, I have read in Outdoor Life and similar magazines that some deer have been known to escape from hunters by crawling on their bellies, especially in deep grass cover. Whenever I related this story to others, I have often got incredulous smiles or laughs of disbelief from them. No wonder John Kerry was laughed at by those who are anti-Kerry! and seeking every which thing to laugh at him, eh?
