Maybe, in my haste to write and post, I didn't make myself clear enough.

What I was trying to point out is that Moslems in the Middle East don't want westerners, in particular Americans, to be in and around their territories. They resent very much the fact that America is helping Israel to exist and expand at the expense of their brother Moslem Palestinians.

They are concerned that if Israelis overcome the Palestinians, their own safety would be threatened. Hence they support the Palestinian struggle. And Al-Qaeda has said in no uncertain terms they support the Palestinians and want the Americans to scram ASAP!

Now with the Americans supporting Israel on the one hand and Middle East Arabs supporting Palestine on the other, the conflict between Israel and Palestine will go on for a long time. And so the Moslem extremists will always
foment trouble and incite armed conflict in protest against America and Israel as long as America is perceived to be helping Israel prosper and expand its territory.

However, if peace is achieved between Israel and Palestine then the claims of the extremist Moslems against America will be de-legitimized and they will have no more excuses for continuing with their attempts to drive out the foreigners. Seen in this light, the crux to ending the armed conflicts in the Middle East is the solution of the Israeli-Palestine problem.

Of course, that may be just a fond hope. But in the absence of something better, that is the solution.

By the way I have written a post which is relevant to this discussion. See my post at
