"...alternative fors of energy. . ."

methane gas from a rich and healthy and vibrant pile of manure. Otherwise known as a by-product of the excretion factor.

"He doesn't want the rapid development of hi-tech that will help in obviating the need for fossil fuels. Bush, the political animal that he is, wants to help his capitalistic cronies maximize profits and to keep supporting him at the expense of the environment! "

That is just plain stupid - as well as ignorant! Again - you guys show us how!

What you don't seem to realize is that Bush is a politician beholden to so many capitalist cronies in the gas, oil, and coal industries.

Do those northern lights affect your brain or is it perhaps all that high potency weed you're growing up there in BC? I like Canadians but there are far too many of you who live in some sort of socialist fog. Small wonder, since your government censors opposing viewpoints such as not allowing Fox News to broadcast up there.

He doesn't want the rapid development of hi-tech that will help in obviating the need for fossil fuels.

That's a blatantly idiotic and irrational statement. Bush, mistakenly IMO, is just as bad as the Dems in throwing taxpayer money at energy boondoggles in an attempt to score political points. The government needs to get the hell out of the energy business and let the free market (CAPITALISM) work.

RN, Excellent post! That's exactly my point, I just keep going around and around with some folks. Long term we'll have oil sands, shale oil, and coal gas liquification or if electricity is abundant we could just synthesize the hydrocarbon you want starting with methane from biomass or natural gas. The sooner we shift the burden from natural gas and coal to nuclear the more hydrocarbons we'll have left for chemical manufacturing.
