Such BS. The reason we could not win in Vietnam had to do with the big lies the war was based on. The whole exercise was pointless, wrongheaded, brutal beyond belief and we ended up killing off the very people were claiming to be fighting to liberate. Much later, Robert McNamara found that out when he met his VC counterpart and they discussed the war. McNamara was astounded to learn that the VC had no real contact with the Soviets and Chinese at all until the US escalated it into a full-scale war, then they had no choice but to get re-supplied. In other words they were not puppets of the Soviets at all, didn't even like them. He said it was a civil war and they believed they were patriots fighting for their homeland against a huge aggressor, the USA. McNamara, LBJ and Nixon all told us it was a war to block the advance of communism, but it was just a local civil war. In effect, we beat ourselves, though we rarely lost a battle. Looking back, it all seems like complete madness. I'd expect LBJ or Nixon would be laughed at if they proposed now what they proposed then. Somewhere back ther JF Kerry was both a combat hero and a hero to end help the madness. A few on the right hold that against him or are jealous, but we should not listen to those people. They are descendants of the same ones who lied to us in the 1960's to begin with and cost 56,000 American lives and trillions of dollars.
