I'm not comparing Bush to Hitler, I'm comparing the far right's propaganda blitz with Nazi and Soviet style propaganda. Shaming people into supporting them by accusing the other side of being anti-homeland, traitors, weaklings, girlie men, foreigners, homosexuals, cowards. Using lies to justify any war or invasion they feel like starting. Pointing to a national humiliation (Hitler used WWI) as "proof" that we need to crack down on liberties and crfeate a one-party rightwing state. Being "united" in this rightwing vision and anyone who disagrees is anti-homeland.

Also the personal destruction smear campaigns were very well done in Soviet, Nazi and American rightwing regimes. Look at how they dogged Clinton for years until they finally caught him in a lie, then they accused him of everything under the sun including mass murder of his best friends, rape, drug-running, you name it. With Kerry, they have accused him of killing our own troops, cowardice, murder, going to war just to fake medals and run for office, lying about his combat exploits and even helping the enemy. None of this is true of course, it's just all pure crapola. Much worse than Watergate.

Ultra nationalism in the form of calling unpatriotic anybody who disagrees with the government can also be referred to as fascism.
