Would you want Jochen to evaluate you on the basis of John Kerry or Ted Kennedy (who are very visible Americans to Europeans)?

Don't assume monolithic attitudes and opinions among Europeans. In Germany the party in power that thumbed its nose at Bush and our efforts in Iraq is in much disfavor now.

A new Government might again be more pro-American, but even among allies we can expect differences on issues.

Your attitude is more reasonable if you applied it to the current French and German governments - as opposed to all French or Germans.

it's not fear to lump Jochen in a population of unrest on war, etc. Like the U.S. many are divided on this issue in all countries.
