That's true. Democrats/Republicans, two sides of the same coin. It was after all the Democrats who led us into the debacle known as Viet Nam. A debacle that killed 58,000+ Americans and over 3,000,000 people in indo-China. The only winners in that bloodletting were the elites who own the military industrial complex. Viet Nam was a bonanza for them. They always win. One thing true American patriots can do is fight the underlying reasons why America has turned into such a militaristic society over the past 50 years. That means supporting alternatives to our current economic structure, alternative energy, alternative medicine, alternative politics, etc. It means opposing militarism that isn't truly defensive in nature. It's amazing how the U.S. has ensured that the border between S. Korea and N. Korea has been secure for decades, but we can't even come close to similiar security on our own border with Mexico?!? Empire has it's costs, and as 9/11 demonstrated we're not prepared to defend our own country. We have miliary bases in over 100 countries, but we can't defend our own country. Supporting alternatives comes down to this principle: the more power people get as individuals, the less power the state and the wealthy elites who control it will have.
