<<< What is it about Western Civilization that effectively precludes it ever facing some stronger power that prefers its culture? Are you saying that no other culture could ever produce bigger guns and a stronger commitment than we have?>>>

It is about good and evil. There is an axiom that evil destroys itself. There is recent examples in the evil empire (the Old Soviet Union) founded by who most people consider evil - Joseph Stalin. There is no chance that such foundations could ever prevail.

Saddam Hussein is an other example. You could say that if it weren't for George Bush, he would still be in existence. But the truth is that he was so evil that when coalition forces came, there was no one there to defend him. If he were not so evil, his people would would have stood by him against outsiders.

I can go on with a lot of examples, but if you weren't predisposed to believe in those basic tenets, it wouldn't make any sense.

But if all this stuff is all untrue, just what is it that we have to fight for?

About all I know is what I have learned from a one semester course in the History of Western Civilization - before they stopped teaching about Western Civilization.
