Where'd YOU come from? Don't you know we like to make fun of John Kerry here? Besides, he's the one - not me - who put the photo mocking the Marines at Iwo Jima on the cover of his book of lies.

BTW, I wasn't comparing WWII to Vietnam at all (that'd be Kerry with his choice of cover photos). I'm not even sure how you came to that conclusion. But since you brought up comparisons of political climates, Bush shared an interesting bit of WWII post-war climate in his speech the other night:

In 1946, 18 months after the fall of Berlin to allied forces, a journalist wrote in the New York Times, "Germany is ... a land in an acute stage of economic, political and moral crisis. [European] capitals are frightened. In every [military] headquarters, one meets alarmed officials doing their utmost to deal with the consequences of the occupation policy that they admit has failed." . . . Maybe that same person's still around, writing editorials.

Does sound an awful lot like the anti-Bush, anti-Iraqi Freedom rhetoric of today, doesn't it?

Finally, re "What is your knowledge of the political climate in this Country during that war, the Korean War and the Viet Nam War", why do you assume that you and those who agree with you have a monopoly on historical knowledge and understanding? I know very well what the political climate was during those periods, but convincing YOU of that is not something I'm particularly inclined to devote my time to. Why do you think you have any right to judge me anyway?

Does this mean the American Revolution and the Civil War are verboten as topics because no one now alive was alive then? How about the War of the Roses? War of the Spanish Succession? Ceasar's campaigns? Pelopenesian War? Alexander's Wars?

You just wiped out all historians.
