asymetrical warfare.

Osama has been very clear about his goal. He wants the west out of the ME so that he can install a 7th century Caliphate. He told Europe, "you want the attacks stopped? Get out of the ME. You have 90 days." He wants to install his own "rule set."

We can't kill all the potential terrorists. Israel tried in the west bank and found it didn't work. But what we can do is block Osama's goal by connecting the ME to our rule set ahead of him. The more we can globalize them, the better chance we have.

We have started with a "big bang" in Iraq. This has created major ME changes. Will we establish a workable Government there? Will it become a "Balkans" or a "Weimer Republic?" Will Iraq become our "west bank?" Only 12 months have passed. It's too soon to tell.

Karen,

The shoe on the other foot is us being occupied and colonized by an enemy who would wipe out our country and our culture and many of us. Now, from that POV, do we still think that terrorism as a tactic is absolutely wrong?

Yes I do.

And again you are illogical - we do not do that to anyone and neither do the current Russians. The separatists are not even a plurality in Chechnya.

By your logic Puerto Rican separatists would be free to hunt you and your children.
