In my military days, we could buy Old Gold for a nickel a pack overseas. Everything else was a dime. Scuttlebutt was that the Old Golds were from WWII days. They looked it, judging by the package. I bought Luckies and Camels (before filter) in the first weeks after payday, Old Golds in the fourth week unless poker was good to me.
