I've heard the rumors about getting GIs hooked. All of my buddies smoked long before they enlisted or were drafted - as did I. Had one disappointed Mother. <g>

Sometime during the 60s I well remember buying Pall Mall cigarettes at a cut-rate gas station near me (gas was usually $ .69/gallon) for $2.19/carton.

Like you, finally quit in the 1970s.
