The main difference, is Putin isn't constrained by the France's of the world like Israel is, and Putin controls the press,in his part of the world, unlike Israel, where Al Jeezera has a stronger influence in the middle east, than any Israeli paper. And you are right, that it was a stupid attack. What you didn't note is that even though Russia didn't have anything to do with the Iraq invasion, the sanctions, doesn't actively back Isreal, or other myriad reasons the left give as reasons why the terrorists hate the USA, the terrorist have attacked Russia, far more than they have attacked the US. What is up with that? And now they are making the cheese eating surrender monkeys, jump through hoops, after all Chirac tried to do to help their cause. Oh well, at least the French are getting used to it.
