Retail or wholesale, it is still murder, and both should be condemned with equal strength. Yes, the Palestinians have had smaller targets, but their frequency is much higher, so their overall death rate is still higher. I am not so sure, the palestinians haven't attacked schools, only because they are better guarded in Israel.

Now, there will be a lot of internal pressure to "do something", and the military is going to be anxious to set an example.

Yes, that I would agree with. Just as the US couldn't ignore Osama anymore after 9/11. Up till now, the US and Britian, have been leading the fight against terrorists. However, the left, France, Germany, etc, have been able to partly justify terrorism, by blaming Israel, and the US support of Israel, as reasons to be soft on terrorism. These attacks, with their, wholesale mindless ,senseless, killing of children, will turn the whole world against all terrorists, because there are no Israel, sanctions, excuses here.
